Types of Services Funded
Whittier City School District receives ADA for educational services including salaries, instructional materials, maintenance, transportation, and capital expenses. In addition, Orange Grove receives Categorical funds from Title I, EIA, ELAP, and School Improvement. A school discretionary block grant, an art, music, and physical education grant, and an English Language Learners Promising Practice grant have also been received.
The Title 1 funding source supports reading and math intervention programs, both during and after school; our EIA/LEP funds provide our teachers with instructional materials during English Language Development and are used to support our English Language Learners throughout the school day. Our School Improvement funds help provide additional materials and supplies that enhance and support instruction in a variety of ways, such as release time for grade level teams to work collaboratively. Our one time school discretionary block grant monies supported the update of technology in the classrooms and provided the funding for First Aid and CPR Training for teachers, support staff, and parents. The art, music and physical education grant has helped increase materials and supplies for the fine arts and physical education curriculums. Furthermore, our PTA funds our field trips, our reading incentive program: Orange Grove Reads, awards for students, our after school fine arts programs, and various events and activities here at Orange Grove School.
